Intestinal Parasites

Intestinal parasites are common in puppies and kittens, that’s why it is important to check a stool sample here at the office. The most common intestinal parasite is Roundworms, but they can also carry Hookworms, Whipworms, Coccidia and Giardia which is an inestinal protozoa.

Some clinical signs of intestinal parasites include diarrhea, vomiting, distended abdomen, weight loss and anemia depending on the severity.

Adult dogs can also pick up parasites. It is recommended to check a stool sample every year and always keep your dog on a monthly Heartworm Preventative that will protect them.
